Bend, Ore. — The media are invited to attend a groundbreaking ceremony Sept. 10 to mark the beginning of construction of a new cancer center where patients will receive all of the care and services they need in one location.
Currently, radiation oncology services, integrative therapies and survivorship programs are located on the Bend campus, while medical oncology services are provided off site. Patients are shuttling between the two places to receive their treatments.
The $12.9 million cancer center, slated for completion next summer, will combine St. Charles' services into one efficient footprint. Designed from the ground up with patient, family, staff and community input, the new building is designed for maximum collaboration and efficiency.
The groundbreaking ceremony will take place at 5 p.m. at St. Charles Bend at the construction site of the cancer center, located near the Heart and Lung entrance on the south side of the campus.
