Every teen deserves the opportunity to live a healthy, active life without the looming threat of sudden cardiac arrest (SCA). Each year, thousands of teens die when their heart suddenly stops beating without warning. But through awareness, education, and direct intervention, these cardiac events can be prevented through the Strong Hearts, Strong Teens screening program, hosted by St. Charles Cardiology and The Children’s Heart Center of Central Oregon.
Screening is free for families and provides a comprehensive heart evaluation that includes a blood pressure reading, electrocardiogram (ECG) screening, limited ECHO and CPR/AED training; confirming our belief that protecting our children’s hearts is a responsibility we all share.
When heart conditions are detected early, appropriate measures can be taken to manage and treat them, significantly reducing the risk of sudden cardiac arrest. By supporting screenings, you can increase the likelihood of early detection and intervention, ultimately saving lives.
But we can’t do this alone. Philanthropic support will allow St. Charles to purchase upgraded technology, equipment and supplies that enable our physicians and techs to screen more children and start the screenings as soon as February 2026. But most importantly, philanthropic support will keep these screenings free for families, since most insurance companies do not cover these preventive screenings. You have the power to keep our youth happy, healthy and thriving by donating to the Children’s Heart Fund at St. Charles Foundation today.
